Purpose
HipScreen is a free smartphone app and educational tool designed to help medical professionals, caregivers, and parents understand and implement a hip surveillance programme for children with cerebral palsy. The app includes a Migration Percentage Ruler which an be used to measure hip migration percentages from a photo of an x-ray.

Key description

The HipScreen App was developed by pediatric orthopaedic surgeons Vedant Kulkarni, MD and Jon Davids, MD and is provided as a public service by the developers and Shriner Hospital for Children.


The app includes a useful Migration Percentage Ruler which enables therapists to digitally measure the Hip Mirgration Percentage using a photo of a hip x-ray.


Kulkarni et al (2018) concluded that the Hipscreen Migration Percentage Ruler is a highly reliable tool which can significantly reduce the time required to measure a hip surveillance x-ray.
